Pramod Bhagat-Bhavina Patel will handle the tricolor, will lead the Indian team in Nagoya Asian Para Games

Paralympic champions Pramod Bhagat and Bhavina Patel will be the flag bearers of the Indian contingent at the opening ceremony of the Asian Para Games to be held in Nagoya, Japan from October 18 to 24. Bhagat, one of India’s most successful para badminton players, has won six medals in the Asian Para Games between 2014 and 2023, including two gold and four bronze medals.

Bhavina, a top para table tennis player, has won one silver and one bronze medal at the Asian Para Games between 2018 and 2023. Bhavina said that being chosen as the flag bearer of India is a very proud moment for me. He said that when you hold the tricolor, you realize that you are representing something bigger than yourself. I am excited to lead the Indian contingent at the inaugural ceremony along with Pramod. I hope all our players will compete with confidence, enjoy the moment and give their best for India.

The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) will formally send off the Indian contingent at a special farewell ceremony on October 8. Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will be the chief guest at the ceremony, while Defense Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Nikhil Khadse will be present as the guest of honour.

PCI President Devendra Jhajhadia said that it is a matter of great pride for us to have Pramod Bhagat and Bhavina Patel leading the Indian contingent in the inaugural ceremony. He said that both are exceptional champions and have made significant contributions to the development of Indian Para sports. His journey, achievements and fighting spirit make him the perfect candidate to represent the Indian team. I am confident that he will inspire our players as they embark on this important campaign.
