F1 Race Time Today: Singapore Grand Prix 2026 Free Practice And Sprint Qualifying Start Time, Where To Watch In India, USA, UK And Worldwide

Formula 1 is back under the lights in Singapore, but this time the build-up to the famous Marina Bay night race comes with a hazy backdrop. Views of Singapore’s haze-shrouded city skyline have emerged ahead of the Grand Prix. Friday, October 9, begins the action with Free Practice 1 and Sprint Qualifying.

This is also Singapore’s first-ever F1 Sprint weekend. Away from the track, drivers are bringing special helmet designs inspired by local culture, while Audi has introduced a one-off livery for the occasion. The haze remains another talking point, although the FIA has said the race is not expected to be affected.

F1 Singapore GP 2026: Special Helmets To Watch Out For

Alex Albon: The Williams driver has unveiled a durian-inspired helmet, paying tribute to Singapore’s famously spiky fruit. The design also features his personal branding and a Marina Bay Sands reference.

Oscar Piastri: The McLaren driver has a helmet inspired by Peranakan beadwork, with a turquoise base and decorative floral motifs. The design draws on a traditional local craft.

Lando Norris: Norris has opted for an iridescent purple-and-blue design with exposed-carbon detailing.

George Russell: Russell’s reflective electric-blue helmet supports the Blue Marine Foundation.

Russell faces a challenging weekend after Mercedes confirmed that he has exhausted his permitted engine allocation. The resulting penalty means he is set to start Sunday’s Grand Prix from the back of the grid, although it does not apply to Saturday’s Sprint.
