Gauahar Khan sells Mumbai duplex for Rs 6 crore

Mumbai: Actor Gauahar Khan has sold her duplex apartment in Mumbai’s Versova area for Rs 6.01 crore, recording a price increase of approximately Rs 2.81 crore from the amount she paid for the property in November 2014.

The sale of the Bigg Boss 7 winner’s apartment was registered on September 24. Gauahar had purchased the property for Rs 3.2 crore nearly 12 years ago, according to property registration data cited in reports.

The difference between the original purchase price and the latest sale value represents an increase of nearly 88 per cent. However, this is the rise in the recorded property value and does not account for transaction expenses, taxes, maintenance costs or inflation.

The apartment is located in Shiv Kutir Co-operative Housing Society in SVP Nagar, Versova, in Andheri West. The buyers reportedly paid Rs 36.06 lakh in stamp duty for the transaction.

Details of Gauahar Khan’s Mumbai property sale

According to property data from CRE Matrix, the duplex is situated on a higher floor of the residential building and spans two levels.

The apartment has a built-up area of 1,872 square feet and a super built-up area of 2,340 square feet. Based on the reported sale price of Rs 6.01 crore, the rate works out to approximately Rs 32,100 per square foot using the built-up area.

When calculated against the super built-up area, the rate is around Rs 25,700 per square foot.

The distinction between built-up and super built-up areas is important when comparing property prices, as the measurements may include different components of the property and building.

The transaction highlights the increase in the apartment’s recorded value since Gauahar purchased it in 2014. While the difference amounts to approximately Rs 2.81 crore, the figure should not be interpreted as her final take-home profit because the available sale details do not account for all associated costs.

Gauahar bought the duplex in 2014

Gauahar acquired the Versova apartment in November 2014 for Rs 3.2 crore.

At the latest reported sale price of Rs 6.01 crore, the property’s value has increased by about 87.8 per cent compared with its original purchase price.

The deal offers an example of how residential property values can change over a long holding period. However, the return an owner ultimately earns depends on several factors, including acquisition and sale expenses, taxes, upkeep and the impact of inflation over time.

The sale also comes after Gauahar made additional property purchases in the same residential project and elsewhere in Mumbai with her husband, Zaid Darbar.

Gauahar’s other property purchases

In 2025, Gauahar reportedly purchased another apartment in Shiv Kutir Co-operative Housing Society for Rs 2.8 crore.

She also purchased two additional apartments jointly with Zaid Darbar for a combined price of Rs 7.33 crore, according to reports on the transactions.

Together, the three reported purchases amounted to Rs 10.13 crore.

The transactions indicate that the actor has continued to invest in Mumbai’s residential property market even as she sold the duplex she had owned since 2014.

The available details do not establish whether the sale of the older apartment is directly linked to her later purchases or whether the transactions were part of a broader financial or investment strategy.

Celebrity property deals in Mumbai

Property transactions involving celebrities have frequently attracted attention because of the high values involved and the locations of the homes.

Actors Ronit Roy, Randeep Hooda and Tabu have also featured in reports about property deals in recent years.

Cricketer Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma were reported to have purchased two apartments at Godrej Skyshore in Versova for approximately Rs 25.8 crore.

In a separate rental transaction, actor Shakti Kapoor and his daughter, Shraddha Kapoor, were reported to have rented an apartment in Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi area for Rs 2.5 lakh per month.

Such transactions reflect the continued interest in Mumbai’s premium residential market, where location, building amenities, property size and demand can influence prices.

What Gauahar Khan’s sale means

Gauahar’s sale of the Versova duplex marks the end of nearly 12 years of ownership. The apartment, purchased for Rs 3.2 crore in November 2014, was sold for Rs 6.01 crore, representing an increase of approximately Rs 2.81 crore in its recorded value.

The transaction also adds to the actor’s property-related activity following her reported purchases in 2025.

While the headline difference between the purchase and sale prices points to a substantial appreciation, the actual financial return would depend on the costs incurred during ownership and the sale, along with applicable taxes and inflation.

For now, the registered deal places Gauahar among the latest celebrities whose Mumbai property transactions have drawn attention to the city’s high-value housing market.
