The national capital has been placed under an unprecedented security blanket ahead of a proposed protest on October 10, with the Delhi Police rolling out an extensive deployment plan aimed at maintaining law and order across the city.
According to police preparations, over 20,000 personnel will be stationed at strategic locations, supported by an elaborate surveillance network and preventive arrangements.
The security plan includes the installation and monitoring of nearly 300 surveillance cameras across sensitive zones, particularly in central Delhi and around key government areas. Authorities have also prepared 12 detention centres as part of contingency measures to deal with any law-and-order situation arising from unauthorized gatherings.
Police have denied permission for the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar and are taking steps to prevent demonstrators from entering high-security zones. Barricades, checkpoints and intensified patrolling have been planned at multiple locations across the city.
Senior officers have reportedly instructed personnel to remain vigilant while ensuring professional and restrained conduct during any interaction with protesters. The focus, officials said, is to maintain public order while minimizing disruption to daily life in the capital.
The large-scale deployment underscores the administration’s determination to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure that public safety remains uncompromised during the planned mobilization. With thousands of security personnel on the ground and real-time surveillance in place, Delhi is gearing up for one of its most closely monitored security operations in recent months.
