Rajinikanth’s upcoming action entertainer Dharmandirected by Ashwath Marimuthu, may delay its theatrical release to accommodate Kamal Haasan’s Indian 3.
Initially slated for a Pongal 2027 debut, reports indicate that the makers of Dharman—which is co-produced by Kamal Haasan—are considering shifting the film’s release to late April 2027. The decision comes as the team behind Indian 3 targets the lucrative Pongal festive window instead.
Post-production work for Indian 3 is reportedly nearly complete, with only 15 days of fresh shooting remaining. The sequel aims to conclude the journey of Senapathy while introducing an epic period backstory featuring his father, Veerasekaran Balram, played by Haasan.
If the schedule changes hold, Dharman—previously titled Thalaivar 173 and featuring Rajinikanth alongside Ram Pothineni and Simran—will target an April 30, 2027 release date. This avoids a direct festive clash while positioning the film weeks after SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s Varanasiwhich lands earlier that month.
Neither production team has issued an official confirmation regarding the revised release dates.
