Eight BJP candidates and two SP candidates won on 10 Rajya Sabha seats of UP!

The political picture for 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh has become clear. Eight candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and two candidates of Samajwadi Party (SP) have been declared elected unopposed. In the scrutiny of nomination papers, the papers of two independent candidates were rejected and no other candidate remained in the fray till the deadline for withdrawal of nominations, paving the way for unopposed elections on all the seats.

With this, the need for voting proposed on October 16 ended and the representation of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh also ended. Those who reached Rajya Sabha from BJP include Uttar Pradesh government minister Dharampal Singh, BJP state OBC Morcha president Prakash Pal, Shruti Gangwar, Vidyasagar Sonkar, Priyanka Singh Rawat, Radhakant Ojha, Gopi Krishna Pandey and Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan.

At the same time, senior SP leader and national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav and industrialist Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani have made it to the Upper House. Election Officer Ajit Kumar Verma completed the formalities of the unopposed election on Friday and issued the certificates of the newly elected members. Most of the BJP candidates themselves arrived and received their certificates during the process held in the Assembly complex.

On behalf of Radhakant Ojha, his representative took the certificate, while on behalf of Ram Gopal Yadav, former MLC Rakesh Yadav came to take the certificate. After being elected to Rajya Sabha, Prakash Pal said that he has been discharging various responsibilities in the party for the last 36 years. Now he will fulfill the responsibility of raising issues related to the people of the state and the country in the House.

Describing BJP's victory on eight seats as a signal for the upcoming assembly elections, he claimed that in the 2027 elections, BJP will win 80 percent seats, while the opposition alliance will get 20 percent seats.

Newly elected BJP MP Priyanka Singh Rawat said that the party has entrusted a big responsibility to an ordinary worker. Describing it as an example of BJP's worker-based system, he said that a hard-working worker can reach higher positions in the party.

He also expressed confidence that BJP will form a government with full majority in Uttar Pradesh in 2027. With SP getting two seats, its number in the Upper House has increased to five. Current members of the party include Ram Gopal Yadav, Javed Ali, Ramji Lal Suman and Jaya Bachchan.

The position of the party has been strengthened with the re-election of Ram Gopal Yadav and Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani reaching Rajya Sabha for the first time.

Nathwani expressed gratitude towards SP President Akhilesh Yadav on social media platform X. He said that Akhilesh Yadav has expressed confidence in him and he will remain dedicated to carrying forward in Parliament his vision related to the all-round development of Uttar Pradesh, modern infrastructure and bright future of the youth.

The tenure of the current members is ending on November 25. Of these seats, earlier BJP had eight, SP had one and BSP had one. After the new elections, the victory of BJP alliance on eight seats and SP on two seats has changed the political equation of Uttar Pradesh in Rajya Sabha.
