New Delhi. As of now there is no age limit for NEET UG exam. As a result, many elderly people are also seen appearing for NEET UG exam. Now the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports has recommended that the government fix the age limit and number of attempts for the NEET UG exam as well. The committee headed by Congress MP Mukul Wasnik has made this recommendation in its 382nd report filed on Friday regarding reforms in NTA.

According to The Print, in the report submitted to the government, the committee has said that it was told that there is no limit for taking the NEET UG exam. Nor has the upper age limit been fixed for NEET UG. Due to which people above 70 years of age are also appearing for NEET UG exam. The report said that the committee recommends that the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and all other concerned parties together consider the possibility of fixing the age and attempt limits for all major examinations including NEET UG. Apart from this, the parliamentary committee has recommended that the NEET UG examination should be conducted through computer instead of offline. Apart from this, it has also been recommended that all examinations should be owned and operated by the central governments.

The parliamentary committee has recommended that the basic arrangements for the NEET UG examination should be such that the candidates, especially those living in rural and remote areas, are not disadvantaged. The committee has also recommended setting up at least one examination center in every district to reduce the travel and accommodation expenses of the candidates. Let us tell you that the Central Government had fixed the NEET UG exam maximum three times and the upper age limit was 25 years. The upper age limit for the reserved category was kept at 30 years, but only in 2017, the Supreme Court intervened in fixing the age limit. This matter was pending in the court and during that time, candidates above the age limit were temporarily given permission to fill the NEET UG form. Then the National Medical Council (NMC) removed the maximum age limit in March 2022.
