New Delhi: Political turmoil has intensified ahead of the proposed demonstration of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in Delhi. On Saturday, many senior leaders of the party including Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal were taken into custody by Delhi Police. At the same time, news of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee being detained in Delhi has also come to light. Amidst these incidents, security arrangements have been tightened in the capital.
According to the information, Arvind Kejriwal was going to participate in the demonstration at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He had left his house some time ago, but before reaching the protest site, Delhi Police took him into custody. Apart from Kejriwal, information has also come to light that Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Saurabh Bhardwaj and Durgesh Pathak have been detained. During this time, a scuffle was also seen between AAP supporters and policemen. The police were already alert in the capital regarding the demonstration.
Mamta Banerjee also in police custody
Earlier, former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also detained outside her residence in Delhi. According to former MP Saket Gokhale, along with Mamata Banerjee, five other Trinamool Congress leaders have also been detained by Delhi Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). After this incident, the atmosphere has heated up in Delhi with protests by leaders and workers of different political parties.
Demonstration near BJP headquarters also
Workers of All India Students Association (AISA) and Left parties are also protesting near the BJP headquarters in Delhi. At the same time, information was revealed that CJP founders Abhijit Deepke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das were detained inside the plane after reaching Delhi.
In view of the proposed demonstration of CJP, security has been increased in Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas. Barricades have been erected on the roads leading to the protest site and additional police personnel have been deployed. Apart from this, drones are also being used for surveillance in the area. Amidst these continuous actions taking place in the capital, the police administration is keeping an eye on the activities of the protesters.
