Actor Imran Khan was detained by Mumbai Police on Saturday at August Kranti Maidan, where a protest was planned in support of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) call for a demonstration. Imran was accompanied by his girlfriend, Lekha Washington, and cousin Zayn Marie Khan, who later shared updates about the incident on social media.
Zayn posted a picture from inside the police van, showing herself seated alongside Imran and Lekha. She captioned the photo, “INQUILAAB ZINDABAAD.” Imran appeared relaxed in the picture, smiling and flashing a peace sign.
Lekha, meanwhile, shared videos on Instagram describing the difficulties the group faced while trying to leave the area. In one clip, she said the police were not allowing them to go home or use vehicles to get there.
In a subsequent video, she reassured followers about their safety, saying, “I am trying to say that we are all safe, we are all fine and we are all on our way home.”
Zayn also shared a lighter moment from inside the van. In a video, she asked Imran whether he had ever been to jail. The actor smiled and responded that, given the circumstances, there was a chance he might experience it now.
The updates from Lekha and Zayn offered a glimpse into what happened after the trio were detained, with the two sharing both their concerns about getting home and lighter moments from inside the police vehicle.
