New Delhi:Despite tight security and deployment of heavy police force in Delhi, the protests of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) are not stopping. The protesters could not reach Jantar Mantar on Saturday, but small groups raised slogans at about 22 places in the capital. Ajinkya Shinde has now taken the responsibility of the movement amid the detention of prominent party leaders. He has made it clear that the protest will continue till the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
CJP has announced to take out a march towards Jantar Mantar at 10 am on Sunday. Police released many protesters late Saturday night, but party convenors Abhijeet Deepke, Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and YouTuber Dhruv Rathi have been kept in custody. National organization in-charge Ajinkya Shinde said in the press conference that the government must have felt that the movement would end by detaining the leaders and workers. According to him, the actions of Modi and Shah show that the protesters have won half their battle. He reiterated that the organization is not going to back down.
Delhi Police leveled allegations against the protesters
Delhi Police shared a video on social media platform X alleging that the protesters have broken their promise of peaceful agitation. According to the police, during the protests in June and July, CJP had given assurance of protesting peacefully, but this time it was not followed. Many activists, protesters and political leaders were detained during the demonstration on Saturday. Shinde claimed that action was taken against more than 15,000 people, including students, civil society people and political figures. He also alleged that Abhijeet Deepke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were not informed about their condition until 12 hours after they were detained.
Alert regarding traffic in Delhi
After CJP's announcement of protest again, traffic restrictions are likely to remain in force in Delhi for the second consecutive day on Sunday. According to Delhi Traffic Police, the routes of vehicles can be changed at about 30 major places in the capital. In the advisory issued late on Saturday night, it was told that in view of the current situation, changes can be made in the traffic system from 6 am on Sunday.
There is a possibility of movement of traffic in many areas including Jantar Mantar, Connaught Place, Mandi House and Patel Chowk in Central Delhi. Police have advised passengers going to railway stations, interstate bus terminals and airports to leave with sufficient time. Also, people have been appealed to avoid non-essential travels.
