Bihar CM Samrat asked for Rs 5275 crore from the central government for the construction of colleges.

Chief Minister Samrat has expressed gratitude for the support he is getting from the Central Government in improving school education in Bihar. The Chief Minister has directed to fully implement the education related schemes of the Central Government and ensure 100 percent utilization of the money received by the Government of India. He said that 220 acres of land was transferred on July 15, 2026 for the reestablishment of Vikramshila University. The Central Government has been demanded to take further action on this as soon as possible.

The Chief Minister demanded opening of two centers of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Bihar, so that the students of the state can get better opportunities for higher education. Also, a total of Rs 5275 crore was demanded for the construction of infrastructure for 211 government degree colleges in the state at the rate of Rs 25 crore per college. Under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi, a review meeting was held in the dialogue room located at the Chief Minister's Secretariat on important issues related to improvement in the quality of higher education and school education in Bihar, strengthening the infrastructure of educational institutions and effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes.

Officials gave presentation

A major review meeting was held regarding the education system of Bihar in the dialogue room located at Samrat Chaudhary Secretariat. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister and Union Education Minister. In the meeting, while reviewing the progress of the ongoing projects in the field of education, special emphasis was laid on their timely implementation and providing better educational facilities to the students. In the meeting, Anand Rao B Patil, Additional Secretary Higher Education, Government of India, Archana Sharma Awasthi, Additional Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, Amarjeet Duggal, Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India gave information about centrally sponsored schemes through presentations. Whereas Rajiv Roshan, Secretary, Education and Higher Education Department, Government of Bihar gave a presentation regarding the effective implementation of the schemes and the schemes of the Government of Bihar.

 

In the meeting, the schemes run under National Higher Education Campaign RUSA-1 and RUSA-2 and Prime Minister Higher Education Campaign PM-USHA under higher education were reviewed. A total of 101 projects are approved under these schemes. Emphasis was laid on the progress of the projects, their effective implementation and timely completion of the set targets. The Chief Minister said that there should be speed in the implementation of the schemes, there should be effective utilization of available resources and the set targets should be accomplished in a time bound manner. 100% utilization of the amount allocated by the Central Government should be ensured.

During the review, the Chief Minister said that the role of government schools in Bihar is very important. About 80 percent of the schools in the state are government and about 80 percent of the students are enrolled in government schools. In such a situation, it is the priority of the state government to ensure quality education, better infrastructure and availability of necessary facilities in government schools. We are getting full support from the Central Government in strengthening the quality, infrastructure and educational facilities of higher and school education in Bihar, for this we express our gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi.

 

The Chief Minister said that children studying in government schools should get better facilities. There should be arrangements for buildings, labs, libraries, toilets and playgrounds. The shortage of teachers is being addressed. The teacher training system is also being improved. The schemes of the Central Government should be fully implemented so that the children of Bihar can get quality education.

Demand to open more Kendriya Vidyalayas

 

The Chief Minister said that 220 acres of land has been transferred on July 15 for the reestablishment of Vikramshila University. We request that the Central Government should take further action on this as soon as possible. Vikramshila University was a famous university of ancient times, its restoration will give a new identity to higher education in Bihar. Land has been given for this university near Bhagalpur. The central government should start the construction work as soon as possible.

 

He said that he requested to open two centers of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Bihar so that the students of the state can get better opportunities for higher education. This will help in providing better opportunities for higher education to the students of the state and encouraging educational activities. The Chief Minister said that 211 government degree colleges are being run in the state. For the construction of its necessary infrastructure, we request to sanction a total amount of Rs 5275 crore at the rate of Rs 25 crore per college.

The Chief Minister also requested to open more Kendriya Vidyalayas in Bihar. With this, the students of the state will get additional opportunities for quality education and educational facilities will expand. In the meeting, commitment was expressed to further strengthen the education system of Bihar through expansion of higher education, strengthening of infrastructure of government schools, improvement in teacher training system and better coordination between the Central and State Government.
