Flipkart Big Billion Days 2026: 63 Lakh Live Users, 34% More New Users

Flipkart’s 13th edition of The Big Billion Days sale has opened with a strong surge in online shopping, recording 6.3 million concurrent users in a single minute during the first hour. The e-commerce platform also reported a 34% increase in new customer additions, signalling strong demand as India’s festive shopping season gets underway.

The opening performance highlights the growing role of online shopping across India, particularly in smaller cities and towns, where consumers are increasingly purchasing smartphones, electronics, appliances and personal care products.

More Than 287 Million Sessions During Early Access

Flipkart’s Early Access phase began at midnight on October 8, 2026, for eligible Flipkart Plus and Black members and co-branded cardholders. The company recorded more than 287 million sessions during this phase.

The sale opened to all customers on October 9. During its first hour, more than six times as many shoppers visited the platform compared with a regular hour.

Flipkart also estimated that nearly one in every 15 Indian online shoppers visited the platform during the opening hour, underlining the scale of consumer interest in the festive sale.

Smaller Cities Drive Nearly 60% of Demand

Consumers outside major metropolitan areas played a significant role in the opening rush. Nearly half of the visits during the first hour came from Tier 3 towns and smaller locations, while non-metro markets accounted for approximately 60% of demand.

Towns such as Sardulgarh, Panskura, Sheikhpura and Kishanganj were among the fastest-growing markets during the opening phase.

The figures point to the expanding reach of e-commerce beyond India’s largest cities, supported by digital payments, product availability, exchange offers and flexible payment options.

Smartphones, Appliances and Beauty Lead Sales

Several product categories recorded strong growth during the first hour.

Large appliance sales increased 30% year-on-year, driven by demand for air conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines. Tablet sales rose 73%, while beauty sales grew 42%, with men’s grooming and self-care products contributing to demand.

Smartphones also attracted significant interest. One in four customers purchasing a mobile phone opted for a product exchange, while one in three chose no-cost EMI. Entry-level 5G smartphones offered at prices comparable to the previous year also helped attract value-conscious shoppers.

At peak, Flipkart reported selling more than 1,600 men’s perfume units per minute.

Flipkart Minutes Sees a Major Jump

The company’s quick-commerce service, Flipkart Minutes, recorded a 3.5-fold increase in order volumes compared with regular days during the first hour. New customer additions rose 11-fold.

Demand extended beyond daily essentials to products such as premium electronics, wearables, laptops and air fryers. During Early Access, an iPhone 17 was delivered to a customer in New Delhi in just 3.4 minutes.

What the Opening Numbers Mean

The strong opening suggests that festive shopping is increasingly driven by a combination of discounts, financing options, convenience and participation from smaller cities. However, the initial figures measure customer activity rather than total sales revenue, and they do not establish the final financial performance of the event.

Summary

Flipkart’s Big Billion Days 2026 recorded 6.3 million concurrent users in a minute during its opening hour, while new customer additions rose 34%. Non-metro markets contributed around 60% of demand. Appliances, tablets and beauty products registered strong growth, while Flipkart Minutes orders increased 3.5 times compared with regular days, highlighting the growing reach of festive e-commerce.
