On calling CJP's allegations false, Deepak said, make the entire video public

Hingoli. CJP founder Abhijit Dipke has made serious allegations against Delhi Police and claimed that he was deprived of his basic rights during detention. He has demanded Delhi Police to make public the entire video of the incident, and has repeatedly sought permission to talk to his cousin, use his phone for two minutes and contact his lawyer. Dipke alleges that the police released the video of the incident, whereas the actual situation of the alleged incident could become clear once the full video is released.

CJP founder Abhijit Dipke, while speaking to reporters, said that if Delhi Police is confident about its steps, it should release the entire video without any changes. This will give the public an opportunity to understand what happened to them and whether they were deprived of their legal rights.

He said, “If Delhi Police has the courage, then they should release the entire video in which I had repeatedly requested them to talk to my cousin, give me my phone for two minutes and talk to my lawyer. Why are you not releasing the entire video? You are showing an edited video. Let the entire video be released, so that the public can understand how you deprived me of my basic rights.”

Dipke also raised the issue of the right to contact a lawyer during detention. He says that after arrest or detention a person has the right to get legal aid, but he was not allowed to talk to his lawyer. He alleged that the police did not even inform his parents and lawyers about where he was kept and which police station he was taken to.

Abhijeet Dipke has also raised questions on the attitude of Delhi Police. He said that the policemen had reached him at around 3:30 in the morning with arrest papers. He said that the police were aware of his family’s circumstances as at that time his family was going through the grief of his grandmother’s demise.

Dipke alleged that the police asked him to call his parents while the family was already going through a great shock. He questioned whether in such a situation it would have been appropriate to tell his parents that he was being arrested and might have to stay in jail for a long time.

He said the police should first explain why it did not inform his parents about the place of his detention. According to Dipke, the police were constantly asking him to talk to his parents, but his family was not told which police station or jail he was in. He termed this entire incident as mental torture for himself and his family. However, independent confirmation of these allegations and Delhi Police’s official stand in this regard is yet to come out.

Dipke also raised questions about the role of women police officers in the action of Delhi Police. He expressed apprehension that the police might have faced an uncomfortable situation due to allegations of molestation against male police officers. It is possible that for this reason the women police officers were put forward or such a step was taken to defend their action.

He said that the police should clarify why there was a need to bring forward the women officers. Also, he criticized the attitude of the police while emphasizing on respectful behavior towards women. Abhijeet Dipke said that he and his colleagues are civilized and educated people and know how to treat women with respect.
