Nine limited editions, one very regal hue, and a few price tags that won't make your bank manager sweat.
Seiko threw herself a birthday party, and the dress code is Edo Purple. Yes, THAT purple: the rich, imperial shade that once signaled pure elegance in Japan's Edo period. Nine limited editions land on 9 October, and think of it as a teaser for how well Seiko can do a monochrome mood.
Prospex Alpinist (Ref. HBC006)
The cult-classic field watch gets a sunburst Edo Murasaki dial with gold accents. Inside is the 6R55 automatic with a 72-hour power reserve, plus the internal compass bezel and 200m water resistance. Limited to 7,000 pieces at £850.
Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph (Ref. HBJ005)
The racing chronograph has dropped the panda look for a purple dial, black sub-dials and gold touches. A motorsport watch with solar V192 movement runs up to six months on a full charge, there are no batteries and no winding. Limited to 8,000 pieces at £640.

Presage Cocktail Time GMT (Ref. HCB006)
Inspired by the “Edo Murasaki” cocktail at Tokyo's STAR BAR, this one has a translucent purple dial with radial texturing that catches the light like a well-lit bar. The 4R34 GMT movement and gold GMT hand make it a proper frequent-flyer watch. Limited to 6,000 pieces at £532.
Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph (Ref. HAB011)
A lightweight titanium case with ceramic detailing, GPS Solar that adjusts across 38 time zones, and a graded dial inspired by dusk over Tokyo. It also packs a perpetual calendar and a 1/20-second chronograph. At just 2,000 pieces and £2,573, it's the rarest of the lot.
Seiko 5 Sports SKX (Ref. HDB003)
The SKX-inspired diver brings the purple sunburst and gold accents for £380, with a 4R36 automatic and a display caseback. At 9,999 pieces it's the least exclusive, but the one most people will actually wear daily.
Seiko Selection “Rotocall” Digital (Ref. HFL001)
The wild card. Seiko has revived its 1982 cult digital, complete with the rotating function-selector bezel, now in a black steel case with a purple aluminum bezel. Dual time, alarms, chronograph and LED light all return. Limited to 4,000 pieces, and it's proof that Seiko's history isn't just mechanical icons.
