Sai Sudarshan injured again
The 2026-27 Ranji Trophy match is being played between Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan in Jaipur. Indian team's star batsman Sai Sudarshan is a part of Tamil Nadu team. He was injured while fielding during the match. Rajasthan's Karan Lamba hits a cover drive and Sudarshan gets injured while trying to block the ball. Sai Sudarshan's injury did not appear to be serious, but he was carried off the field by members of the support staff.
Sai Sudarshan has recently returned to the cricket field. He was part of the India 'A' squad for the Test and ODI series against Australia 'A'. He has also been included in the India 'A' squad for the three Test matches starting October 26 in New Zealand. Sai Sudarshan's injury is a bad news. He had recently recovered from an injury and now his fitness has been questioned as he has suffered another injury. This may also hinder his selection in the Indian team.
Devdutt Padikkal replaced Sudarshan
Sai Sudarshan was the main third batsman of Team India since last year. However, Sudarshan was injured before the Test series against Sri Lanka, giving Padikkal the chance to play at number three. He scored centuries in both Test matches against Sri Lanka. This has made him the third first choice batsman of Team India.
Sai Sudarshan has now become a reserve player and has a chance to bat well for India 'A' in New Zealand conditions and make it to the final XI ahead of Padikkal. However, if Sudarshan is not fit due to injury, he may be ruled out of the New Zealand tour altogether.
