Mahindra Bolero Teaser Out: New Update Coming This Festive Season

The Mahindra Bolero is one of the oldest models from the Indian SUV maker in the domestic market. The SUV/MUV has been on sale for over 25 years, during which Mahindra has introduced several updates, including engine and cosmetic changes. It now appears that Mahindra is preparing another update for the Bolero, which is likely to launch during the festive season this year. The company has released a new teaser video hinting at the upcoming launch.

The video was shared by Mahindra on the Bolero’s official social media page with the caption, “Things are about to get bolder.” The video also features the text, “The dust is about to settle.” It offers a glimpse of the Bolero’s front end, which remains hidden behind a cloud of dust.

It appears that Mahindra is preparing to introduce a new edition of the Bolero. Despite being over two decades old, the Bolero continues to record decent sales numbers. It is regarded as a no-nonsense, utilitarian and rugged MUV. The vehicle also keeps things relatively simple in terms of technology, making it a popular choice among buyers in rural parts of the country.

The upcoming Bolero is likely to be a new version of the existing model, with minor cosmetic changes and new stickers or graphics on the side panels. It could be a festive-season special edition aimed at reminding customers about the long-running MUV.

The Bolero is expected to continue offering features such as machine-cut alloy wheels, manual air conditioning, fabric seats, an analogue instrument cluster, power windows for all four doors, a fabric headliner and power steering.

Last year, Mahindra introduced a small, rectangular 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the Bolero. It supports Bluetooth and USB connectivity, along with phone-mirroring capabilities for navigation apps such as Google Maps. With the upcoming edition, Mahindra could retain the existing system or introduce a larger touchscreen.

The Bolero is expected to retain its large rectangular halogen headlamps, with turn indicators and parking lights integrated into the cluster. The metal bumper is also likely to continue, with provisions for fog lamps.

The MUV will continue to be offered as a seven-seater, with jump seats for third-row passengers. The tail lamps are also expected to remain unchanged.

The Mahindra Bolero is powered by a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder mHawk turbo-diesel engine that produces 75 bhp and 210 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, with power sent to the rear wheels.

Mahindra updated the Bolero’s suspension setup last year, and this is expected to be carried forward to the upcoming edition.

The Mahindra Bolero is currently available in B4, B6 and B8 variants, with prices ranging from Rs 8.57 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The upcoming edition is also expected to be priced below Rs 10 lakh, in line with Mahindra’s competitive pricing strategy. Mahindra might launch or unveil the new version of Bolero on 15 October.
