A problem has been stuck for 11 years
Even though the government has declared 78 days bonus, there is still a big gap left for the employees. Actually, this limit of Rs 7,000 for deciding bonus has remained the same since the year 2014-15 i.e. for the last 11 years. For this reason, the bonus amount of the employees has also not increased.
Many employee organizations including IRTSA are continuously demanding that the minimum salary limit for calculation should be increased from Rs 7,000 to at least Rs 18,000. If the government accepts this demand, the bonus of the employees will directly increase from Rs 17,951 to Rs 46,184.
Why did you get this wonderful reward?
The cabinet said that this bonus is a reward for the excellent performance of the employees. Indian Railways has performed amazingly in the year 2025-26. Railways carried a record 1,670 million tonnes of freight and transported around 7.41 billion passengers to their destinations. This bonus will motivate the employees to further improve the performance of Railways in future also.
