Ankita Bhandari Murder Case : Ankita Bhandari's parents, who were protesting at India Gate after BJP leader Dushyant Gautam was made the Governor of Sikkim, have been taken into custody by Delhi Police. But, he was released a few hours after being detained. Opposition leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has raised questions on this action of the police. He alleged that suppressing the voices of victims is the hallmark of this government.

Questioning the appointment of Dushyant Gautam as the Governor of Sikkim, the Congress leader further said, “Even before the investigation yielded results, the appointment was made in a hurry and the parents who asked questions were picked up in the dark of the night. This is the identity of this government: suppress the voices of the victims, remove those who question. But the fight for justice will not be suppressed, nor will it stop. Congress stands with Ankita Bhandari's family, and will continue to stand – until they get justice.”
It is noteworthy that the murder of Ankita Bhandari in 2022 had made a lot of headlines. 19 year old Ankita was a receptionist in a hotel near Rishikesh. It is alleged that Ankita was being pressurized to provide special service to a VIP visiting the resort.. Due to his refusal, he was murdered on 18 September 2022 and his body was recovered from Chilla Canal on 24 September 2022.
In this murder case, former BJP leader Vinod Arya's son and resort owner Pulkit Arya along with his two managers Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta were arrested. After convicting the accused, the lower court sentenced them to life imprisonment. Uttarakhand High Court recently rejected the bail pleas of the three convicts. Dushyant Gautam's name came into discussion in this case when in December 2022, actress Urmila Sanawar, who claimed to be the second wife of former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore, released some audios and videos.

The name 'Gattu' was mentioned in these audios and videos. Which was presented by associating it with the then National General Secretary of BJP Dushyant Gautam. It was alleged that Dushyant Gautam's name was taken as a 'VIP' who required special services at Vanantar Resort. However, on December 23, Suresh Rathore had described the viral audio as AI generated.
