Big decision of Central Government, will be implemented across the country from November 1

New Delhi. The method of calling may change for mobile users across the country from November 1, 2026. As per the instructions of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), telecom companies have to implement Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) facility. Its purpose is to make it easier to identify unknown calls and help curb fraud through spam calls.

When a call comes, the name will be visible along with the number.

Under this facility, when a call is received on the phone, the name of the caller will also be visible along with the number. If the number is not saved in the mobile, the name recorded in the official records of the SIM can be shown. This will help users to identify unknown calls. According to the information given, this service is planned to be implemented by default on 4G and 5G networks, while a separate decision can be taken for 2G and 3G.

Arrangements for privacy and business also

The names of those who have taken the authorized facility to hide the calling number will not be displayed. At the same time, companies can choose to display their registered brand or business name after verification of the required documents.

CNAP may make it easier to identify fake and unwanted calls, but it does not guarantee that spam calls will be completely stopped. Mobile users should avoid sharing banking information, OTP or personal details to any unknown call.
