Balendra Shah is coming to India in November! Why is the Prime Minister of Nepal giving priority to India and not China?

Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah is coming to India. According to a media, he is supposed to come to this country in November. This is the first time Balendra is going on a bilateral visit after taking office eight months ago. Earlier, however, he traveled abroad to attend the United Nations General Assembly. But this is the first bilateral visit. And in that case he chose India. According to informed sources, this is a very important issue. The Prime Minister of Nepal is coming to India instead of going to China.

It was already heard that Balendra is increasing closeness with China by becoming the Prime Minister. However, although he objected at first, he later took the initiative to build good relations with India. Diplomatic circles feel that he is playing a bit of a balancing act in this regard. But it is said that he is finally choosing New Delhi to go on a bilateral visit. He is expected to arrive here in the third or fourth week of November.

This 'trend' is quite new. Before this, Pushpakamal Dahal was the first to go to China. Before that, Jhalanath Khanal chose Türkiye. Sher Bahadur Deuba went to Britain. Again Oli first chose India but later chose China. Instead of following the path of his predecessors, Balendra is coming to India. Preparations for the trip are underway. However, no announcement has been made by either of the two countries.

The timing of Balendra Shah's visit is also significant. Because earlier he showed disinterest in establishing contact with diplomats of various countries including India and China. However, after the devastating floods in Nepal in August, India quickly sent relief supplies and expert rescue teams. It is believed that Balendra Shah will hold a long meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is thought that many important issues can be discussed between them.
