Let us now tell you that not everything about Imran Khan, yes, a lot…
Born in America, raised in India
Imran was born on January 13, 1983 in Madison city of Wisconsin state, USA, to father Anil Pal (software engineer of Bengali Hindu origin) and mother Nuzhat Khan (a psychologist). Anil Pal studied at IIT Bombay with director Mansoor Khan.
When Imran was born, his parents were students. Imran's parents separated when he was two years old. At the age of three he returned to India with his mother. Later his mother remarried to actor Raj Zutshi. Imran considers him like a father since his childhood.
How is Imran Khan related to Aamir Khan?
Whenever Imran's name comes up in the film industry, superstar Aamir Khan's name is also associated with it. Aamir is the brother of Imran's mother Nuzhat Khan.
Nuzhat Khan comes from a film family. She is the daughter of famous director-producer Nasir Hussain. She is the real sister of director-producer Mansoor Khan (who made superhit films like 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' and 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar'). Additionally, she is also the sister of Aamir Khan's mother Zeenat Hussain.
Why did Imran Khan not adopt his father's surname and choose his mother's name?
His name at birth was 'Imran Pal'—'Pal' being the surname of his father Anil Pal. But he chose to adopt his mother's name, as she was the one who raised him. However, at the age of 16 he went back to America to complete his high school studies.
In an interview with 'The Times of India' in 2008, Imran was asked why he did not keep his father's surname. To this the actor said that he had never “deliberately decided not to keep his father's surname.” “I was raised by my mother,” he said.
His father, who lives in America, never remarried. Imran has gone to America several times to spend time with him. In 2015, when he took a break from acting, he also went to America to spend time with his father.
In an interview with 'Times', the actor revealed that he was suffering from severe depression.
“I was not feeling well. I was struggling with very deep and severe depression. I was out of the country for a long time. My father lives in California. So, I love spending time both there and here. My life has been spent going back and forth between these two places. I spend a lot of time with my father.”
