Bandarsindri police station officer Bannalal Jat said that the accident happened at around 9 pm. Bhagchand (38), resident of Harmada, was going towards Jaipur on a bike along with Lada Devi (45), resident of Faluda, and her daughter Hansa (18).

Meanwhile, the sleeper bus coming from behind hit the bike. After the collision, the bus dragged the bike for about 20 feet.

The magnitude of the accident can be gauged from the fact that the leg of Bhagchand, who was riding the bike, was severed, while the bodies of all three were badly mutilated.

After the accident, anger spread among the local people. People protested on the spot and raised questions on the road safety arrangements at Patan intersection.

In the morning, MLA and Rural District President of Congress Dr. Vikas Choudhary reached outside the mortuary and protested against the frequent accidents in Patan area.

He said that we have demanded many times to build a culvert at Patan intersection, but till now no efforts have been made to prevent accidents.
