New Delhi. The Union Home Ministry has sought a detailed report from the Aam Aadmi Party government of the state on the recent incidents of murder of people who raised their voice against drug abuse in Punjab. The Central Government has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Punjab seeking a detailed reply. Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had cornered the Bhagwant Mann government and said that the consuming of poison under pressure by a father, Gulzar Singh, in Didba, the murder of Parvinder Singh Jhota, who raised his voice against drugs in Mansa, in broad daylight, the murder of Bikramjit Singh in Gurdaspur district and the attacks on his associates Nishan Singh and Gurmukh Singh have raised serious questions on the law and order of Punjab.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Punjab is today facing the growing threat of drugs, gangsterism and organized crime. The biggest question before the Bhagwant Mann government is who will take up the responsibility of the security of the people of Punjab? The drug trade is flourishing in Punjab, the threat of organized crime is increasing and questions are being raised about the safety of those raising their voice against drugs. Bhagwant Mann Ji, the people of Punjab want results, not publicity, answers, announcements, a decisive attack on the drug network and an impartial investigation into any political patronage given to criminals.
Home Minister reiterated his resolve
Amit Shah said, today I reiterate my resolve to the people of Punjab that if our (BJP) government is formed in Punjab, we will work with full force to make Punjab free from drugs, free from gangsters and safe. Our aim is clear, to attack the drug trade, to protect the future of the youth, to take strict action against criminals and to have such a rule of law in which no citizen is forced to live under the shadow of fear.
