The Warriors plan to waive Dalen Terryleague sources tell Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints (Twitter link).
Terry has been on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 contract with Golden State for training camp. He finalized that agreement in late August and appeared in five preseason games (14.0 minutes per contest) with the Warriors this fall, averaging 6.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals on .480/.500/.667 shooting in a small sample size.
Siegel hears the Warriors like Terry and suggests the 24-year-old will open the season with their G League affiliate in Santa Cruz despite not having signed a contract with Exhibit 10 language that would put him in line for a bonus for reporting to the NBAGL.
Terry has spent the past four seasons in the NBA after being selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2022 draft. The former Arizona standout struggled to carve out a consistent role in his three-and-a-half years with the Bulls, who traded him to New York ahead of the February deadline. He was immediately rerouted to New Orleans and subsequently waived by the Pelicans.
A 6’6″ guard/forward, Terry signed a two-way contract with Philadelphia in February, a few days after he was cut by New Orleans. Terry had his two-way deal converted to two-year standard contract in April to make him eligible to compete in the 2026 playoffs.
The Sixers initially picked up their minimum-salary team option on Terry for 2026/27. However, his salary was fully non-guaranteed, so he was waived when the club needed to make room under its hard cap to officially sign LeBron James.
Terry reportedly being released bodes well for Brandon Williams’ odds of making the Warriors’ regular season roster. The former Mavericks guard’s salary will remain non-guaranteed until January even if he’s still on the standard roster next week.
