Automobile Desk: Celebrating its glorious journey of 125 years, Royal Enfield has introduced a very special motorcycle in the Indian automobile market. The company has launched 'Classic 650 Anniversary Edition' with the name 'Hypershift Classic 650'. Its ex-showroom price in the Indian market has been fixed at Rs 4.25 lakh (₹4,25,589). This anniversary edition of Royal Enfield has been kept quite exclusive and will be limited to only 125 units for each major region across the world. This means that this bike will be seen on the roads only with a few selected riders.
Customers wishing to purchase this limited edition can do online booking/registration from 16th October 2026, the last date of which has been kept as 28th October 2026. According to the company, the delivery process of this special bike will be started in a phased manner from November 2026.
Royal Enfield started its journey in 1901 and this new look has been created by combining the same old heritage with modernity. The basic outline of the bike remains the traditional teardrop shaped fuel tank and signature nacelle headlamps of the Classic series, but its biggest attraction is its unique 'Hypershift' paint shade. This special paint job changes its color depending on the viewing angle and lighting, giving a brilliant glow of red, green and gold shades.
To give a more vintage and premium look to the design, it has been given a brass base, which is reminiscent of the early motorcycles of the company. The 125-year golden crest on the fuel tank, special badging on the side panels and intricately hand-etched pinstripes set it apart from the regular Classic. The color contrast is further enhanced by the all-black finish on the engine's outer case, wheels and exhaust. For comfort, it has been provided with a special quilted premium seat.
In terms of features, modern technology has been used well in it. The bike has LED headlamp setup, TFT digital display with tripper navigation and USB Type-C port for mobile charging. Riders can also easily remove the pillion (rear) seat and sub-frame as per their convenience.
To make the riding experience smooth, 43 mm Showa telescopic forks have been provided at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. For braking safety, dual-channel ABS is included as standard with 320 mm disc brakes at the front and 300 mm at the rear, which prevents wheel locking during sudden braking.
Talking about performance, the company has not made any changes in its powertrain. It gets the same reliable 647.95 cc air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine, which generates 46.39 to 47 bhp of power and 52.3 Nm of peak torque. This powerful engine is tuned with a 6-speed gearbox and slipper/assist clutch. This bike with 243 kg curb weight and 800 mm seat height can reach a top speed of about 157 km/hour, while it has a fuel tank with a capacity of 14.7 to 14.8 liters.
