Efforts continue for Rajya Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh, political turmoil intensifies!

Contending leaders have become active in the state after Dr. L. Murugan, who was a Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh, resigned from the cabinet and Rajya Sabha membership. There is a possibility that in place of Murugan, a leader from South India or a surprising name from the state will emerge. Murugan was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state and his tenure was till 2030 but he has resigned from the membership.

There are a total of 11 Rajya Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh, out of which eight are held by BJP members. BJP's Rajya Sabha members include Sumitra Balmik, Kavita Patidar, Banshilal Gurjar Sumer Singh Solanki, Balayogi Umesh Nath, Maya Narolia, Rajneesh Kumar Aggarwal, Tarun Chugh, Mahesh Kewat, while Congress has Vivek Krishna Tankha and Ashok Singh.

Recently Murugan has resigned from the membership of Rajya Sabha and elections are certain to be held for this seat in the coming time. Just because of this, many BJP leaders have started running from Bhopal to Delhi.

The influential leaders who could not reach the Assembly or failed to reach the Lok Sabha have now joined the race for Rajya Sabha. There are many prominent leaders of the state who have started settling political equations according to their own.

If we look at the politics of BJP in the state, one thing becomes clear that when elections were held for three Rajya Sabha seats in the state, Congress was expected to get one seat but after the rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan's nomination, all three seats went to BJP.

BJP had given two surprising names in this election – Rajneesh Aggarwal and Mahesh Kewat. BJP sources say that a cabinet reshuffle is possible and due to the upcoming strategy, a leader from South India may be sent to the Rajya Sabha from the state or a surprising name from Madhya Pradesh may emerge.
