Salman Khan: Bollywood actor Salman Khan narrated an old incident related to his family in ‘Bigg Boss 20’. He told that his maternal grandfather was angry with his mother’s decision to marry Salma Khan. Because of this, he did not talk to Salman’s father Salim Khan for five years. However, after the birth of Sohail Khan, his maternal grandfather came to meet Salim Khan with sweets.
Nana was against marriage with Salma
Salman told that the reason for his grandfather’s displeasure regarding his parents’ marriage was not religion. He was worried that his daughter was marrying a man who wanted to work in the film industry. Salman told that his maternal grandfather did not like Salim Khan’s dream of becoming an actor. He wondered how his daughter would fare in the environment of the film industry.
At the same time, Salman’s mother’s siblings liked Salim Khan and they had no problem with this marriage. Despite this, Nana was not happy with this relationship.
Nana arrived with sweets on Sohail’s birth.
According to Salman, his maternal grandfather did not talk to Salim Khan for about five years. But when Sohail Khan was born, he reached Bandra from Mahim with sweets. Salman told that Nana was sorry that he had lost many years of watching his grandchildren grow up. He also regretted not talking to Salim Khan for so long. According to Salman, Nana was sad about this till the last moment.
There was also a ban on going to mother’s parents’ house.
Salman narrated another incident related to his parents. He told that whenever his mother Salma got angry and went to her parents’ house after a fight with Salim Khan, her maternal grandfather used to stop her from coming into the house. Nana used to tell his daughter that she can come home whenever she wants, but should not come there after quarreling. He wanted Salma to return to her home and live with Salim Khan.
Salim and Salma got married in 1964.
Salim Khan and Salma Khan were married in the year 1964. Earlier Salma’s name was Sushila Charak. After marriage, she changed her name to Salma. Both of them have four children, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and Alvira Agnihotri. Later Salim Khan fell in love with actress and dancer Helen. At that time he was married to Salma. Salim and Helen got married in the year 1981.
Initially it was not easy for the family to accept this relationship. Salman has also told that it took time for him and his siblings to accept Helen as a part of the family. However, gradually family relations improved.
