On Saturday, SP Metropolitan President Haji Fazal Mahmood along with his team reached all the five assembly constituencies of Kanpur and took stock of the ground situation of the campaign. During this, party officials, booth level agents (BLA) and workers were instructed to check the voter list closely.

Under the campaign being run on the instructions of SP National President Akhilesh Yadav, the party's national, provincial, district, metropolitan and ward level officials remained active in their respective areas. Metropolitan President Haji Fazal Mahmood along with Senior Vice President Shailendra Yadav 'Mintu' and General Secretary Sanjay Singh 'Bunty Sengar' conducted a surprise inspection of various polling stations. He reviewed the functioning of voter list revision along with taking information about the presence of workers and 'PDA guards' deployed at the booths.

Emphasis on adding names of new voters

During the inspection, special attention was paid to the process of adding new names to the voter list, filing objections on ineligible entries as per rules and correcting errors in name and address. Party workers were given necessary instructions regarding the process of registration of new voters through Form-6, application for deletion of name through Form-7 and correction of details through Form-8.

If any voter's name or address is seen recorded repeatedly under suspicious circumstances, then related information should be collected and sent to the metropolitan office. He stressed that action on any entry should be taken only on the basis of facts and prescribed election process.

'The name of the eligible voter should not be left out'

The Metropolitan President said that in a democracy it is necessary for every eligible citizen to get the opportunity to vote. It is the responsibility of party workers to check the voter list and assist new voters in the registration process.
