Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said his office has spoken to the Haryana government regarding the incident of stone pelting near Kurukshetra on a sleeper bus going to Jammu and Kashmir, which has assured to take prompt and strict action as per law. An elderly passenger was injured in this incident.
Sharing a post from his official account on social media platform 'X', Abdullah wrote, Jammu and Kashmir government stands with the affected passengers and is closely monitoring the situation. According to a post on 'X', stones and bricks were thrown at a sleeper bus registered in Jammu and Kashmir near Kurukshetra, injuring an elderly passenger.
Abdullah shared a post from his personal 'X' account urging Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to take action against those responsible for the incident. He said, this unfortunate incident should not have happened. I hope that the Haryana government led by Naib Singh Saini and the Haryana Police will take action by arresting the culprits, so that such incidents do not happen again.
National Conference spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar described the incident as a hate crime. Dar wrote on 'X' that stones and bricks were thrown at a bus from Kashmir going from Delhi to Srinagar near Kurukshetra in Haryana. It was reportedly a hate-motivated attack in which an elderly man from Kashmir was injured. The families traveling in the bus were horrified by this incident and started feeling helpless. He termed it a deadly attack on innocent people and demanded action against the culprits. A user on 'X' also shared a video of the damage caused to a luxury sleeper bus.
The user wrote, a luxury sleeper bus going from Delhi to Srinagar was pelted with stones near Kurukshetra, Haryana. In the video, the bus of 'Star World Ventures' is seen badly damaged. The glass windows of the bus were broken, the rear lights were damaged and the number plate was bent.
