Imran Khan has filed a petition in the court through his lawyer Zulfikar Memon. In this, the notice to leave India has been termed as illegal, unfair and harsh and has been declared wrong on the basis of law. The petition also argues that there is no express provision in the existing laws and statutory rules that prevents an Overseas Citizen of India i.e. OCI card holder from participating in a peaceful protest. The actor's stand is that he should have been given a fair opportunity to express his views before taking any action. Now all eyes are on what stance the court takes in this matter.
According to media reports, this petition can be mentioned before the bench of Chief Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Advait Sethna for urgent hearing. However, the further situation regarding the hearing and court order will depend on the judicial process. At present, the actor has tried to get relief on the basis of his legal rights by challenging the notice.
This entire matter is related to the Citizens for Justice and Peace i.e. CJP Protest organized at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai. This demonstration was organized by Cockroach Janata Party. Imran Khan also participated in it. According to the report, Imran does not have Indian citizenship and is an American citizen. He has OCI card. After participating in the demonstration, allegations of alleged violation of rules and immigration laws related to foreign nationals came to light. After this, it came to light that Mumbai Police and FRRO had issued a notice to him to leave India by October 28.
On his decision to join the protest, Imran Khan had said while talking to the media that he had reached there as a citizen of the city. He had said that he does not have any specific demand but he wants to understand why people's voice and freedom of movement are being restricted. His girlfriend Lekha Washington, her mother Nusrat and niece Jayan also participated in this demonstration.

His film Katti Batti was released in the year 2015 in which Kangana Ranaut was in the lead role. The film could not achieve much success at the box office. After this, Imran was seen in a special role in the film Happy Patel Dangerous Jasoos, released this year. Now his legal fight against the notice to leave India is in the news. The High Court hearing in the coming days may be important in deciding the direction of this case.
