Ramsharan Nautiyal, father of famous singer Jubin Nautiyal in Uttarakhand, has joined Congress. Uttarakhand Congress in-charge Kumari Selja and state president Ganesh Godiyal have given him membership of the party. In the politics of Uttarakhand, this is being considered a big blow for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Ramsharan Nautiyal has contested the elections from Chakrata Assembly seat in the year 2022 on Bharatiya Janata Party ticket. Veteran Congress party leader Pritam Singh is the MLA from Chakrata. Now the political equation of this seat will also be interesting. Jubin Nautiyal is one of the famous personalities of Uttarakhand.

What is the meaning of this change?
Being a big local face, he has a craze in the state. It is also being said that it is possible that Pritam Singh may again contest from Chakrata assembly seat and due to being a celebrity face, Ramsharan Nautiyal may get the ticket from somewhere else. He will try to convert the defeat into victory in the 2022 elections.
What happened in the election in which you lost?
BJP had fielded Ram Sharan Singh Nautiyal from this seat. He got a total of 36853 votes. Ram Sharan Nautiyal had polled 27417 votes. Independent candidate Kamlesh Bhatt was at third place, he got 3624 seats. A total of 106126 voters were registered here, out of which 72774 people voted. Pritam Singh won by about 9436 votes.
Whatever be the election, Pritam Singh wins
Pritam Singh had also won the 2002 assembly elections. He was from Congress, second was Uttarakhand Janwadi Party leader Munna Singh Chauhan. Then BJP was at third position. BJP's Murat Ram had polled only 5554 votes. Pritam Singh had won by 8176 votes.
He also won the 2007 assembly elections. Madhu Chauhan was at second place. He was also an independent. Pritam Singh won again in 2012. Munna Singh Chauhan of Uttarakhand Janwadi Party was at second position. In the year 2017 also, Pritam Singh had won this seat by defeating Madhu Chauhan of BJP. BJP was defeated in 2022 also. Ram Sharan Nautiyal could not save his seat.

Who is Ram Sharan Nautiyal?
Ram Sharan Nautiyal has been active in the politics of Uttarakhand for decades. He has previously held many important positions in Congress. Now just before the assembly elections, he has once again changed sides. It is expected that Congress may give him a bigger post. He has been a rival of Pritam Singh politically but now being in the same party, both can come together.
