Will you get ticket from Muktsar after Giddarbaha?
Amrita Vading said in a Ramlila program, 'Muktsar is my maternal home and it is also the birthplace of me and Raja Vading. Our family contested elections from Gidderbaha, Bathinda and Ludhiana, in which the people of Muktsar always had a big contribution. Till now I had not paid political attention to this area, but now if people support me, I wish to develop Muktsar on the same lines as Giddarbaha was developed.' After his statement, a discussion has started in political circles whether the Congress party can give him a chance to contest elections from this seat.
the tug of war begins
A tussle has started within the Congress party regarding Sri Muktsar Sahib assembly seat. Veteran leader of the district, Karna Kaur Brar has also expressed her views regarding this seat. She has contested the 2022 assembly elections from Sri Muktsar Sahib on Congress ticket. He said that in a democracy any person has the full right to express his desire to contest elections. However, the final decision on which candidate will be given the ticket will be taken by the high command of the Congress party.
Karna Kaur Brar also said that her family has been associated with the Congress Party for a long time and has been serving the people of Muktsar. She made it clear that if the party high command gives ticket to another candidate, she will respect the party's decision and support the candidate.

What is the position of Congress?
The political position of Congress has not been strong in Muktsar district and at present the party does not have a single MLA from this district. Muktsar, Malout, Gidderbaha and Lambi assembly seats are in this district. Of these, Gidderbaha seat was won by Raja Vading but in the by-election held after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, his wife Amrita lost the by-election from this seat and this seat went to the Aam Aadmi Party.
Muktsar seat has been dominated by the family of former Punjab Chief Minister, late Harcharan Singh Brar. In the year 2022, his daughter-in-law also got the ticket. However, Congress was able to win only Gidderbaha assembly seat in this district. Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar of Aam Aadmi Party had won in Muktsar, Dr. Baljeet Kaur had won in Malot and Gurmeet Singh Khudian had won in Lambi.
