Story of Jailer 2: Beyond the First Part
The story of the film 'Jailor 2' starts from where the first film ended. Tiger Muthuvel Pandian (Rajinikanth) and his family are trying to cope with the death of their son Arjun when an idol smuggling gang again creates problems in their lives.
New twist in the story
To avenge the murder of Varman (Vinayakan), his partner Dilip (Suraj Venjaramoodu) sets out to find the person who committed the murder. This search leads him to his former jailer 'Tiger'. To protect his family, Tiger has to face a dangerous syndicate, led by Bodhi Kalpak (SJ Surya), Kanta Kalpak (Vidya Balan) and their father Kalpak (Mithun Chakraborty).
Direction and writing: Balance of humor and action
The biggest strength of director Nelson Dilip Kumar is his 'absurd comedy', which is also seen in this film. The first half of the film starts off quiet and restrained, but the 'mass moments' that follow make it even more exciting.
Unique characters and comedy
The characters of the ruthless but mindless gangster Murthy (Namo Narayanan) and Malayali smuggler Dilip (Sooraj Venjaramoodu) add a touch of comedy to the story.
Second part and cameo
The twist after the interval is fantastic, but the story deviates a bit in the second half. Nelson has intelligently included cameos old and new, although Hrithik Roshan's entry feels a little underwhelming.
Acting: Rajinikanth's acting
Rajinikanth once again proves that his swag is unique. His transformation from a quiet family man to a dangerous 'Tiger' is seamless and impressive. Co-star SJ Surya has given an excellent performance as the villain.
Technical side and music
Anirudh Ravichander's background score fills every scene with energy. However, some songs slow down the pace of the film. Vijay Karthik Kannan has done a brilliant job in cinematography and editing.
final call
Despite a weak climax and some logical flaws, 'Jailor 2' makes for an entertaining film thanks to Nelson's unique writing and Rajinikanth's charm. It doesn't look as fresh as the first film, but it has enough spice for the audience.
