The Crime Branch team of Nagpur Police and UP STF were continuously working on this operation for the last several days, after which the accused was finally arrested from Nagpur-Wardha Road.

Shraddha Dubey and other named accused were absconding ever since the incident came to light. The police tightened its grip and announced a reward of Rs 50,000 on him and non-bailable warrants were also issued from the court. During the investigation, the police had received input that the accused were planning to flee to Nepal, after which raids were conducted at Rupaidiha border of Bahraich and many other places. Ultimately, based on accurate electronic surveillance and information from an informer, the police caught him from Nagpur.

He had claimed that Shiva Sharma's death was not murder but suicide and the CCTV footage would prove his innocence.
