Duddhi/Sonbhadra-
The festival of Vijayadashami was celebrated with joy and traditional enthusiasm in Duddhi. As part of the tradition of Ramlila that has been going on for hundreds of years, a war between Lord Shri Ram and Ravana was staged at the Ramlila Sports Ground. As soon as Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram's arrow hit Ravana's navel, Dashanan came to an end and the 51 feet high giant effigy of Ravana burst into flames. During this, the entire ground echoed with shouts of Har Har Mahadev and Jai Shri Ram. After Ravana Dahan, fireworks continued for hours, thousands of people gathered to watch them.
During the staging of Ramlila, the incident related to Ravana's knowledge and scholarship after his killing was also presented. According to the story, during the last days of Ravana, Lord Shri Ram sent his younger brother Lakshman to gain knowledge from him. Lakshman first wanted to gain knowledge by standing towards Ravana's head, but Ravana did not give him any advice. After this Lord Shri Ram explained to Lakshman that humility is necessary to attain knowledge and he should stand near the feet of Ravana and receive the knowledge. When Lakshman approached in a humble manner, Ravana told him words of wisdom.
The message was given through Ramlila that ego, unrighteousness and kidnapping of another's woman lead to destruction. Despite Ravana's wisdom and power, his arrogance became the cause of his downfall. The story of him attaining salvation after being killed by Lord Shri Ram was also presented with reverence.
