Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone welcomed their second daughter on September 19, 2026. On the auspicious day of Dussehra, the couple took to Instagram and revealed the name of their daughter. Sharing a happy, picture-perfect family photo, the couple announced their second angel’s name as Devi Padukone Singh.

Deepika and Ranveer jointly posted the photo with the caption, “Of Love & Abundance… Devi Padukone Singh | देवी पादुकोण सिंह (sic).”
In the picture, Deepika is holding her second daughter, Devi, in her arms, while Ranveer is holding Dua in his arms, with Dua kissing her little sister Devi.
The family looked pretty as ever, colour-coordinated in shades of gold. The picture-perfect family photo was mesmerising and enchanting, and their fans flocked to the comment section to bless the newborn and the happy family. Many celebs were also seen posting cute emojis and wishes.
What does the name Devi mean?
The name Devi is derived from Sanskrit and means “goddess” or “divine woman”. In Hinduism, Devi represents the divine feminine power and is worshipped in several forms, including Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati and Parvati. The word is associated with strength, grace, compassion and feminine divinity. While different traditions interpret the goddess in different ways, Devi is a widely recognised name that reflects reverence for the feminine divine.
Goddess Durga, in particular, is associated with courage, protection and the triumph of good over evil. Lakshmi represents prosperity and abundance, while Saraswati is associated with knowledge, learning and the arts. The name is therefore deeply rooted in Indian culture and religious tradition. However, Deepika and Ranveer have not shared a specific explanation for choosing the name in their Instagram caption.

Deepika and Ranveer welcomed their first daughter, Dua Padukone Singh, on September 8, 2024.
The actors revealed Dua’s name on Diwali in November 2024. At the time, Deepika explained that Dua means prayer. Deepika and Ranveer were criticised for naming their first daughter Dua, with some suggesting that they could have named her Prarthana or Pooja. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s love story
Deepika and Ranveer’s love story began in 2012, and they fell in love while working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, which was released in 2013. The two actors went on to star together in Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat and ’83.
After dating for several years, they got married on November 14 and 15, 2018, at Lake Como in Italy. The couple had a Konkani-style wedding honouring Deepika’s roots, followed by a Sindhi ceremony celebrating Ranveer’s heritage.
