Lucknow. The news of alleged religious conversion of Samajwadi Party National Spokesperson Rajkumar Bhati is being discussed on social media. After a video went viral, it was claimed that he had left Hinduism and adopted Buddhism. Now Rajkumar Bhati has clarified these claims by calling them rumors. He said that he was born in Hindu religion and is still a Hindu today. He has respect for Buddhism, but neither has any intention of changing religion nor does he see the need for it.

Rajkumar Bhati told on social media that he had attended a program of Indian Buddhist Sabha as the chief guest on October 20 at Ambedkar Bhawan, Rani Jhansi Road, Delhi. This program was 'Vishal Dhamma Deeksha Ceremony'. Here 22 pledges of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar were repeated. Bhati was also present on the stage and was seen taking oath.
Yesterday, on 20th October, I participated as the chief guest in the program organized by the Indian Buddhist Mahasabha at Ambedkar Bhawan, Rani Jhansi Marg, Delhi. Being a true socialist, I respect every religion, caste, class and community and participate in whoever invites me to my program with respect. On the invitation of Sikh brothers, I also come to the Gurudwara to pay obeisance to Guru Granth Sahib. On the invitation of Muslim brothers, I also attend their Majlis. I also participate in the festivals of Hindu religion.
I have a special attraction towards Buddhism and the teachings of Gautam Buddha and I respect him very much. Baba Saheb's thoughts also have a deep influence on me. But after yesterday's program, BJP IT cell and blind devotee fanatics have spread false propaganda against me on social media that I have renounced Hinduism and converted to religion. I fully support the teachings of Baba Saheb and the teachings given by Gautam Buddha and have a deep belief that I neither have any need nor any intention to convert to religion. We can serve humanity by living in any religion and speak against discrimination, untouchability, hatred, superstition and hypocrisy.
Please do not get trapped in the false propaganda of BJP IT Cell and do not have any misunderstanding. Thank you. Jai Bheem . Namo Buddhay .— Rajkumar Bhati (@rajkumarbhatisp) October 21, 2026

These pledges include not considering Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, Ram and Krishna as gods and not worshiping them. There is also a pledge not to believe in Hindu gods and goddesses and not to consider Buddha as the incarnation of Vishnu. These pledges are related to Dr. Ambedkar's initiation into Buddhism on 14 October 1956, when he administered this oath to millions of his supporters.

As soon as the elections come, the reality of SP, which pretended to be Hindu, is now in front of everyone!
SP leaders are refusing to accept Lord Vishnu, Mahesh, Shri Ram and Shri Krishna as Gods.

Akhilesh Yadav ji, tell me, is this the real thinking of SP? How long will this double character of pretending to be a Hindu at the time of elections and insulting the Hindu faith the rest of the time continue?
