Piyush Goyal Europe Visit: Strengthening Ties

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal will undertake an official visit to Germany (22–24 October 2026) and the Netherlands (24–27 October 2026).

Accompanied by a formidable delegation of around 100 Indian businesses and startups, the visit aims to cement strategic economic partnerships, accelerate bilateral trade, and foster deep technological collaboration across Europe.

The Berlin Leg: High-Level Dialogues and Advanced Partnerships

Kicking off the tour in Berlin, Goyal will participate in the prestigious Berlin Global Dialogue. There, he will engage with international policymakers and global business leaders, showcasing India’s robust macroeconomic stability, flourishing manufacturing ecosystem, and critical role in forging resilient global supply chains.

The German leg features high-level bilateral discussions with the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and key officials at the Federal Chancellery. Talks will center on:

  • Expanding trade and investment corridors between the two nations.

  • Driving industrial cooperation in advanced engineering, green mobility, and clean technology.

  • Capitalizing on market access avenues tied to the ongoing India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations.

A parallel program for the accompanying Indian business delegation includes sectoral roundtables with German CEOs. These sessions will target vital industries, including automotive, advanced manufacturing, IT, artificial intelligence, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy. The delegates will also interact with Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) and top innovation institutions to explore deeptech and microelectronics collaboration.

The Netherlands Leg: Gateway to Green Transition and Supply Chain Synergy

Transitioning to The Hague, Shri Goyal will spearhead government-to-government (G2G) engagements with the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate and the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation. Discussions will focus heavily on green transition initiatives and expanded trade channels, alongside meetings with the King’s Commissioner of North Holland and members of the Dutch Parliament.

On 25 October 2026, the Indian business delegation will tour the Port of Rotterdam to study cutting-edge logistics and supply chain infrastructure. Following this, Shri Goyal and the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation will jointly address the India–Netherlands Business Forum on 26 October 2026.

The forum will be succeeded by six parallel sectoral roundtables and extensive business-to-business (B2B) networking sessions, covering everything from agri-food processing and high technology to sustainability, engineering goods, and services.

This strategic visit marks a monumental step forward in cementing India’s footprint as a powerhouse of innovation, manufacturing, and reliable global trade partnerships.
