Bruno Fernandes questions Manchester United's tactics after UEFA Champions League loss against Como

Manchester United captain questioned the team management’s tactical decisions following its 1-4 loss against Italian side Como in their UEFA Champions League 2026-27 league phase clash on Wednesday.

Argentine Nicolas Paz grabbed a brace, including a second-minute strike, and Jacobo Ramon and Anastasios Douvikas scored one each while Joshua Zirkzee found a consolation goal for Michael Carrick’s side in stoppage time.

“We started on ‌the wrong foot, and they scored very early. There was not enough pressure ‌on the ball and not many good movements off ‌the ball. There were many things not going our way,” Fernandes told TNT Sports.

“Conceding early makes us go into the game with a ‌mood of defeat,” he added.

The Portuguese midifielder noted that giving the opposition space allowed it to take the upper hand.

“It’s a decision from the (coaching) staff not to press man-to-man and sometimes leave space behind and try to get the ball, wait for them, but sometimes when you ‌give space to these teams they get confidence,” he said.

“That’s on the manager and staff to ‌see, not me. Sometimes you have to be more brave under pressure, take the risk of pressing high and making them uncomfortable,” Fernandes said about United’s setup for the game.
