New Delhi. Assembly elections are to be held in Punjab next year in 2027. For this, all the parties have started their preparations. At the same time, President of Punjab's leading regional party Shiromani Akali Dal, Sukhbir Singh Badal has indicated an alliance with BJP. Badal says that he is ready for an alliance with like-minded political parties. A delegation of Akali Dal led by Sukhbir Singh Badal today met Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria in protest against the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota and submitted a memorandum demanding the removal of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. After this, while talking to the journalists, Badal said, we can form an alliance with the political parties which agree with the ideology of Shiromani Akali Dal. He said that Akali Dal is a regional party and said that Punjab is paramount for us. Along with this, he described Congress and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party as the main opponents of Shiromani Akali Dal.

Let us tell you that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and BJP have been each other's allies for a long time in Punjab. Both the parties together had also formed the government in the state. In September 2020, Akali Dal had announced separation from NDA on the issue of agricultural laws. Since then, BJP and SAD have parted ways. Now, before the assembly elections, the statements of the leaders of both the parties are indicating that the old allies may come together once again. Drug addiction is a big problem in Punjab and Amit Shah has said that BJP will fight the 2027 elections on the issue of drug-free Punjab.
