Congress In UP Election: Congress has been facing bad situation in UP Assembly elections for the last 38 years, will Samajwadi Party accept the demand of 200 seats after seeing these figures?

Lucknow. UP assembly elections are coming closer. UP Assembly elections are expected to be held in March-April 2027. On one hand, BJP, under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, is trying to create history by winning the UP assembly elections for the third consecutive time. At the same time, the main opposition party Samajwadi Party is trying to oust him and come back to power after 10 years. Samajwadi Party has formed an alliance with Congress, but the distribution of seats between the two has not been done yet. UP Congress in-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam has demanded around 200 seats. At the same time, Akhilesh Yadav has said that victory is not important, but seat. In the last 38 years, Congress has been continuously moving towards misery in UP. In such a situation, the question is, what will the Samajwadi Party accept as Congress's demand?

If we look at the performance figures of Congress in the UP Assembly elections held since 1989, that year Janata Dal had won 208 seats and only 94 Congress candidates could win. Then in the 1991 UP assembly elections, Congress's seats further decreased. It won 46 seats and BJP won 221 seats. Kalyan Singh government of UP was dismissed after the demolition of Babri Masjid. Then in the year 1993, UP assembly elections were held. In which Congress suffered another setback and could win only 28 seats. Five years later, in 1996, the situation of Congress improved slightly. It won 33 seats in the UP assembly elections, but Congress again suffered setbacks in 2002 and 2007. Only 25 and 22 candidates of Congress could win in the UP assembly elections.

Then came the 2012 UP assembly elections. In which Samajwadi Party won the flag and won 224 seats. Whereas, Congress got only 28 seats. In the year 2017, Congress contested the UP Assembly elections in alliance with Samajwadi Party, but only 7 out of 105 candidates could win. Then in 2022, Congress separated from Samajwadi Party and entered the battle of UP Assembly single-handedly on 399 seats, but the party's fate further deteriorated and it won only 2 seats. Whereas, Congress had formed the government 41 years ago by securing 269 seats in the UP assembly elections. Talking about the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2024, Congress was able to win 6 MPs from UP by alliance with Samajwadi Party and by giving the slogan of saving the Constitution. Whereas, Samajwadi Party had performed better than before and captured 37 Lok Sabha seats.
