Sports Bike: Honda Two-Wheelers has introduced its new sports bike Honda CBR500R Four in the global market. The biggest feature of this middleweight sports bike is its new 502 cc inline-four cylinder engine, which produces 72 PS of power. The company has also given it the standard Honda e-clutch system, which allows the rider to change gears without using the clutch lever again and again. Apart from this, the bike has features like 5-inch TFT display, Honda RoadSync connectivity, three riding modes and traction control.
Design and look of Honda CBR500R Four
The new Honda CBR500R Four has been given a sporty and muscular design. Its front part has two LED projector headlights, in which LED DRLs are included. The angular fairing and muscular fuel tank of the bike enhance its sporty look. At the same time, the upward raised exhaust makes its design attractive.
The company has introduced this bike in two color options, which include Ignition Red and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic.
502 cc inline-four engine in Honda CBR500R Four
Honda CBR500R Four has a 502 cc liquid-cooled, inline-four cylinder engine. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. This engine produces 72 PS of maximum power at 11,000 rpm and maximum torque of 47.4 Nm at 9,750 rpm.
Many technical changes have been made to improve the efficiency and engineering of the engine. It has nickel-silicon carbide cylinder plating, which is intended to help reduce weight. Additionally, the engine gets a dual ram-air intake system with diamond-like carbon valve lifters and differently shaped intake funnels.
Standard Honda E-Clutch System
The most special features of this bike include Honda e-clutch technology, which is given as standard. With the help of this system the rider can start the bike, change gears and stop the bike without manually operating the clutch lever.
It has a traditional 6-speed gearbox, so the rider has to change the gears himself. The e-clutch system simplifies the operation of the clutch, which can be especially convenient in traffic and situations with frequent gear changes.
5 inch TFT display and Honda RoadSync
Honda CBR500R Four has a 5-inch TFT instrument console. It also has Honda RoadSync connectivity, which connects to the smartphone via Bluetooth. Through this, the rider gets facilities like turn-by-turn navigation, calls and SMS alerts.
Apart from this, the bike is also provided with light switches, USB Type-C charging port and engine immobilizer. These features help improve convenience and safety during everyday use.
Three riding modes and traction control
Ride-by-wire throttle has been given in the new Honda CBR500R four. With this, three riding modes are available named Standard, Sport and Urban. The rider can select one of these modes as per his need and road conditions.
Apart from this, the bike also has two user modes which can be customized as per your choice. These provide the facility to adjust parameters like power delivery, engine braking and traction control as per the need.
Safety Features of Honda CBR500R Four
For safety, the bike has been provided with dual-channel ABS, which helps in reducing the possibility of wheels locking during braking. With this, switchable traction control is also available, which the rider can turn on or off as per his need.
The combination of ABS, traction control and different riding modes helps in controlling the bike better. However, actual safety also depends on road conditions, tire grip and riding style.
Suspension, frame and braking system
The Honda CBR500R Four is built on a new steel tube diamond frame. It has 17 inch wheels both at the front and rear. For suspension, it gets 41 mm KYB inverted fork at the front and Pro-Link monoshock at the rear.
For braking, two 296 mm disc brakes are provided in front, with which radially mounted Nissin two-piston callipers are available. At the same time, a 240 mm disc brake with a single-piston calliper has been provided at the rear.
The bike gets Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires as standard. Along with these tyres, its suspension and braking setup has been designed keeping sporty riding in mind.
Weight, seat height and fuel tank
Talking about size and weight, the curb weight of Honda CBR500R Four is 189 kg. Its seat height has been kept at 780 mm, while the fuel tank capacity is 14 liters. These figures help riders understand the bike’s weight, seating position and fuel storage capacity.
At present, official information regarding the price of the bike and its launch in India is not available. In such a situation, it would be too early to reach any conclusion about its entry and possible price in the Indian market.
