Pakistan to host Women's T20 World Cup 2028, India's matches likely to be held in UAE

Women's T20 World Cup 2028:Political tension has been going on between India and Pakistan for a long time. This has also affected the cricket relations between the two countries. This is the reason why Indian and Pakistani teams do not play bilateral cricket series in each other's country. Matches between the two countries are now seen only in big tournaments of ICC and Asian Cricket Council. Now a similar situation seems to be emerging regarding the Women's T20 World Cup 2028. Pakistan will host this tournament, but the Indian team will not go to Pakistan to play its matches. In such a situation, ICC is working on a plan to hold India's matches in some other country.

Women's T20 World Cup 2028 will be held in Pakistan

ICC has already announced that Pakistan will host the Women's T20 World Cup to be held in 2028. This tournament will be played from 7 September to 1 October 2028. 12 teams will participate in this. However, there is no possibility of the Indian team going to Pakistan. In such a situation, ICC has kept the option of holding matches of India in a neutral venue i.e. in a third country. According to media reports, Pakistan Cricket Board is also ready to organize the tournament under hybrid model. In this model, the tournament is hosted by one country, while the matches of a particular team are played in another country.

India may compete in UAE

According to a source in the Pakistan Cricket Board, Pakistan is ready to host all those matches in which the Indian team will not play. At the same time, the matches of the Indian team can be held in the United Arab Emirates i.e. UAE. Dubai is being considered as a possible place for this. The main reason behind this is the short distance between Pakistan and Dubai. This can make it easier for teams to make travel and other arrangements. However, the ICC will have to take the final decision regarding the venue of the Indian team's matches.

Hybrid model has been adopted earlier also

Even before this, ICC has adopted hybrid model in big tournaments. The 2025 Champions Trophy was hosted by Pakistan, but the Indian team played all its matches in Dubai. Similarly, India's matches in the 2023 Asia Cup were also held in Sri Lanka. At the same time, in the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup, Pakistan team played its matches in Colombo instead of India.

Situation may also arise regarding the final

According to Pakistan Cricket Board source, if the Indian team does not reach the final, then the title match can be held in Lahore. Pakistan hopes that hosting this tournament will promote women's cricket in the country. Now all eyes will be on the 2028 Women's T20 World Cup. Great performance will also be expected from the Indian women's team in this tournament. However, the final decision on where India's matches will be held and on which ground the final will be played will be clear only after the ICC's announcement.
