India and New Zealand have delivered the competitive cricket fans expected from two World Cup finalists. Both opening matches went into the last over, with neither side certain of victory heading into it. But fans hoping to see all the main players in action will miss three big names in the third T20I.
Ishan Kishan’s absence is a setback for India
World No. 1 T20I batter Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the third match. His absence leaves India without a batter who has consistently performed well.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi replaced Kishan in the previous game but delivered a disappointing performance. With Kishan unavailable again, India will continue to miss an important member of their batting lineup.
New Zealand to miss Ferguson and Henry
New Zealand face two major setbacks in their pace attack. Ferguson and Henry will both miss the third T20I as part of workload management, leaving the visitors without two experienced fast bowlers. Henry’s absence will extend through all three remaining matches.
Ferguson impressed in the first T20I, particularly in his final two overs. His bowling kept New Zealand in the contest and made India work for the finish.
Henry delivered an impressive spell in the second match. He bowled a maiden over and put the Indian batters under pressure early in the innings.
Losing both bowlers together makes New Zealand’s attack look considerably weaker. Ferguson showed his value towards the end of the innings, while Henry demonstrated how much pressure he could create at the start. Their absence takes away two important options from New Zealand in a series where both matches so far have gone down to the final over.
