Sultanpur court will give verdict in defamation case today, Rahul Gandhi will appear at 11 am

Sultanpur's MP-MLA court will pronounce its verdict today in the nearly eight-year-old defamation case against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi will appear in the civil court at 11 am on Monday. This matter is related to the statement given by the then BJP National President Amit Shah during the Karnataka Assembly elections.

Tezzbuzz Desk– Rahul Gandhi is on bail in this case and has recorded his statement in the court. The complaint was lodged by BJP leader Vijay Mishra. His allegation was that Rahul Gandhi's statement damaged Amit Shah's reputation. After this, the court accepted the complaint and started hearing the case.

According to the complaint, Rahul Gandhi had said that BJP claims to have honest and clean politics, but the command of the party is in the hands of a president who is accused in a murder case. The comment was made in the context of the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. However, in 2014, the special CBI court in Mumbai acquitted Amit Shah in this case.

In this case, a warrant was issued in December last year when Rahul Gandhi did not appear personally in the court. After this, on 20 February 2024, Rahul Gandhi appeared in the court and surrendered. The court had granted him bail after depositing two sureties of Rs 25,000 each. Now the court will give its verdict today in this old case.
