Many NDA leaders, including Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, have demanded an apology from Mallikarjun Kharge for his remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Athawale said that making such comments is absolutely inappropriate and we will not tolerate it.
Speaking to reporters in Nagpur, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said, “Mallikarjun Kharge is the president of a big party which has been in power for 60-70 years. It is not appropriate for the president of such a party to insult the Prime Minister.
If Kharge has a habit of making such comments, it is not a good thing. “It is absolutely inappropriate to make such comments, and by doing so he has deeply insulted the Prime Minister and we will not tolerate it.”
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said, “The way the leadership of the Congress party, including Kharge ji and Rahul Gandhi, have made comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parents from time to time, is against the culture of India, its values and the spirit of 'Bharat Mata'. The people of this country will never accept it. They should apologise.”
Brajesh Pathak said that the people of the opposition have become disheartened due to not getting power and are victims of mental bankruptcy. If you see, from time to time whenever Congress goes to elections, it will have to suffer the consequences. The country has tried to sideline whatever behavior has been carried out against the values of Mother India.
Vishwas Sarang, a minister in the Madhya Pradesh government, said, “Congress leaders are continuously insulting Narendra Modi's late parents and trying to tarnish their image. What could be more unfortunate than this?”
He said, “There is no place for such language in a democracy. I have always said that this is the agenda of the Congress, because this party does not understand the values of this country. It is not in our values to comment about a dead person.
Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have been doing this for a long time and now Kharge has also done the same. Something can be said by mistake once, but he said it thrice. Kharge ji, this kind of language will cost you dearly. The public will respond to this.”
Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam said, “Can the deceased parents of a leader become a part of politics? Can anyone make indecent remarks? If Kharge has even a little bit of shame left in his mind, then he should apologize with folded hands.”
He said, “Mallikarjun Kharge, will you make Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late father a part of petty politics? What happened to your opinion? You don't have any other issues, so will you single out anyone's father? If someone makes indecent remarks about your father in such vulgar language, how hurt will you feel?”
Ram Kadam questioned, “You are dejected and disappointed, don't you have issues? When a man is completely defeated, his speech deteriorates.
At present the Congress party is completely dejected. There is a fear of defeat in the coming elections also. Is this why Mallikarjun Kharge's speech came out? You have not only hurt the sentiments of the Prime Minister, you have hurt the sentiments of the entire country.”
BJP MLA Paltu Ram said, “Mallikarjun Kharge's inappropriate remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late father are highly condemnable. There is a competition among opposition leaders as to who can use the most objectionable language against Prime Minister Modi and NDA leaders. Be it Mallikarjun Kharge or Rahul Gandhi, they are victims of bankruptcy.”
