Piyush Goyal taunts on the protests in Europe, says, 'Indians do not spread unrest by taking to the streets'

New Delhi. Union Minister Piyush Goyal is currently on a tour of Germany and the Netherlands. Here he has expressed his views regarding the respect of the Indian community and the protests taking place in Europe. He said that Indians are respected in other countries because people there know that Indians are generally peace-loving and do not create unrest in the society.

Piyush Goyal said, 'Indians get a lot of respect and welcome in this country. People here know that Indians do not vandalize nor create unrest in the society by taking to the streets. As is being seen in some other parts of Europe.

  • Praising the Indians, he said that the Indian community is peace-loving. Indians live with their families and take care of them. According to him, this is the reason why the Indian community is viewed with respect in other countries.

This statement of Piyush Goyal has come at a time when India has advised its citizens living in France, Italy and other European countries to remain alert amid violent protests. The Ministry of External Affairs says that Indians living in Europe should be alert and exercise caution while travelling.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Indian missions in France, Italy and Belgium are closely monitoring the situation and are in constant touch with the people of the Indian community.

Responding to a question related to the safety and well-being of Indian citizens in the affected countries, Jaiswal said, 'They have been advised to remain alert, exercise caution while going out and stay away from areas where protests are taking place.'
