Election results are expected by evening. Centers have been set up in all the respective divisional headquarters for counting of votes, where counting of votes is going on as per the prescribed procedure amid tight security. According to the Election Commission, all necessary preparations for counting of votes had been completed. Observers and personnel have been deployed to monitor the counting of votes. In these elections, 90 candidates were in the fray from graduate constituencies and 60 candidates from teacher constituencies. Now all eyes are on the final results of vote counting.

Among these eight seats, the contest from Patna Graduate constituency is being considered politically special. There is special curiosity about the result of this seat. The election result here is also being linked to the political prestige of Mokama MLA Anant Singh. Anant Singh had expressed support in favor of the candidate supported by Jan Suraj and there was a lot of discussion about this seat during the elections. In such a situation, the results are also considered important in terms of their political influence.

On October 23, voting was held for Patna, Darbhanga, Tirhut and Kosi seats of graduate quota. At the same time, voting was also held on four seats of teachers’ constituencies on the same day. It is expected that the results of teacher constituencies will come first in the counting of votes. The number of voters in these seats is less compared to graduate constituencies, although teacher voters were ahead in terms of voting percentage.

In the counting of votes, first preference votes will be counted first. If the victory of any candidate is not decided on this basis, then the second preference votes will be counted. This process will continue until the winner is decided. Major political parties used their full strength in the election of these eight seats of the Legislative Council. BJP and JDU fielded candidates on four seats each, while RJD contested on six and Congress on five seats. Jan Suraj fielded his candidates in all eight constituencies.

Darbhanga Graduate constituency was at the forefront in terms of number of candidates, where 40 candidates were in the fray. At the same time, the electoral fate of 18 candidates each will be decided in Patna teacher and Saran teacher constituencies. The results of vote counting will not only clarify the political position of the candidates but will also allow the influence of various parties in these constituencies to be assessed.
