Imran Khan Leave India Notice: Mumbai. Bollywood actor Imran Khan has got relief from the Bombay High Court in the case of the order to leave India. The court has decided to continue the interim stay on the order of the Central Government. Along with this, no punitive action will be taken against the actor till the next hearing. The next hearing of the case will be on November 2 at 3 pm.
Relief received till November 2
During the hearing, the Additional Solicitor General appealed to the court to postpone the case till Monday. Also gave oral assurance that no punitive action will be taken against Imran Khan till the next hearing. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court decided to continue the stay on the notice to leave India. For now, the actor will continue to get relief till the next hearing.
Controversy started due to participation in protest
This case is related to the protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Imran Khan also participated in this demonstration. Authorities allege that despite not being an Indian citizen and holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status, he took part in the political protest, which is in violation of the provisions of the Foreigners Act.
On this basis, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) had ordered him to leave India. Imran Khan moved the Bombay High Court against this order.
Imran Khan called the action arbitrary
In the petition filed in the High Court, the actor has raised questions on the action. He says that without preliminary inquiry, show cause notice or opportunity to present his side, he was directed to leave India within 14 days. He has called it against the principles of justice.
The petition also said that the protest site had not been declared a restricted area. According to Imran, he neither crossed any barricade nor violated any law during the demonstration.
Media surrounded, then claimed to be taken into custody
Imran Khan claimed in his petition that he was preparing to leave the protest site when some media persons surrounded him. After this he was taken into custody. However, the allegations made by the authorities and the arguments of the actor in this case are pending in the court.
