New Delhi. Central employees and pensioners are waiting for an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). Before Diwali, discussions regarding this are intense. It is expected that the government may take a decision on dearness allowance in the possible cabinet meeting to be held on October 28. However, no official announcement has been made in this regard yet.
Dearness allowance may increase by 3%
It is estimated that the Central Government may increase DA by 3 percent. If this happens, dearness allowance will increase from the current 60 percent to 63 percent. This is expected to provide relief to lakhs of central employees as well as pensioners. Pensioners can get the benefit of increase in Dearness Relief (DR) in the same proportion.
You can get benefits from July
If the government approves the increase, it could be implemented from July 2026. In such a situation, employees can also get the outstanding amount i.e. arrears from July. However, the date of payment and arrears will be clear only after the official order from the government.
How much will be the impact on salary?
The benefit of 3 percent increase in DA will be decided on the basis of the basic salary of the employee. For example, an employee with a basic salary of Rs 47,600 can get an additional DA of Rs 1,428 every month. The actual benefit will depend on the employee's salary and applicable rules.
At present, the eyes of central employees and pensioners are on the next decision of the government. If approval is given to increase DA, then they can get financial relief during festivals. But the final situation will be clear only after the official announcement.
